SUMMARY:7/17 LOBBY: The Crooked Stuff (SF) and DJ Sovern T
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a wild night mixing The Crooked Stuff’s vibes with DJ Sovern T!\n\n\nThe LOBBY series takes a sharp turn into the future of funk. \n  \nWe are welcoming San Francisco’s own The Crooked Stuff\, a trio that has been described as existential discopunk for the people. Built at the intersection of DC hardcore\, Bay Area psychedelic rock\, and indie pop\, the band features Tom Gorton on vocals\, John Varn on synths and keys\, and Nick DeRyss on drums. \n  \nTheir sound is a heady blend of discopunk and electrofunk. Fans have called it like INXS injected into The Prodigy and somewhere between Gorillaz\, Daft Punk\, and TV on the Radio. They have shared stages with Tank and the Bangas\, Fishbone\, Monophonics\, and Dumpstaphunk. \n  \nAnd keeping the energy high all night long\, we have DJ Sovern-T. A decade-long force in West Coast and Hawaii music scenes\, Sovern-T has opened for acts like Public Enemy\, Jurassic 5\, Black Eyed Peas\, and Tribe Called Quest. He blends Hip-Hop\, ’80s\, Funk and Soul\, and Reggae into a sound so distinct it is simply called “Sovern.” \n  \nThis is a special night\, so we are adding $10 presales on Eventbrite. Door tickets will be $15. \n  \nCome for the Friday Night Market. Stay for the LOBBY afterparty. \n  \n**Event Details:** \n📅 Friday\, July 17 \n🚪 Doors 7:30 PM | 🎶 Music 8 PM – Midnight \n🎟️ $10 presale on Eventbrite | $15 at the door \n📍 The Eureka Theater \n  \nThe LOBBY series is made possible by our sponsors: \nUpNorth\, Six Rivers Solar\, Fireplace (dispensary in Arcata and Eureka)\, Familia Coffee\, and Eureka Natural Foods. \n

SUMMARY:7/29 80s Adventure Series: Adventures in Babysitting
DESCRIPTION:Nobody leaves this theater without singing the blues. Or eating pizza.\n\n\n🎬🍕 Nobody leaves this theater without singing the blues. Or eating pizza. \nJoin us at the Eureka Theater for our 80s Adventure Series! Week seven is a wild ride through Chicago. \n📅 July 29 – Adventures in Babysitting \nAbout the movie:\nHigh school senior Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) just wants to have a quiet night babysitting the Andersons’ two kids. But when her best friend runs away from home and calls for help\, Chris drags the kids into downtown Chicago – where their car gets stolen\, they accidentally steal a car back\, they hide out at a blues club\, they outrun mobsters\, they escape a gang of car thieves\, and they end up on the roof of a skyscraper. All in one night. This movie is a comedy thriller before that was really a thing. It’s sharp\, it’s scary\, and it’s hilarious. The “And the Babysitting Blues” musical number? Iconic. Thor? He’s a total hunk. “Don’t fuck with the babysitter” (clean version: “Don’t mess with the babysitter”). On the big screen with a crowd\, you’ll be yelling at the screen and laughing nonstop. \nTicket details:\n💰 12 adults | 7 kids (12 and under)\n🍕 Every ticket includes a FREE slice of pizza from Paul’s Live from New York! \nHow it works:\nCome early – buy a ticket at the door or scan your Eventbrite ticket to get your coupon. SUMMARY:Humboldt Jerry Garcia Celebration: DJ Logic & Friends | Rosewater
DESCRIPTION:A Days Between celebration of Jerry Garcia's life & music. Humboldt's ultimate Deadhead gathering.\n\n\nJoin us for the Humboldt Jerry Garcia Celebration – a very special Days Between gathering honoring the life\, music\, and spirit of Jerry Garcia \nDJ LOGIC & FRIENDS \nThe theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ Logic\, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and mixing his sound across the map. As one of the world’s most accomplished turntablists\, DJ Logic is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip-hop realms and is considered by most as a highly-respected session musician and an innovative bandleader. \nThese performances will be special DJ hybrid shows. Logic is not just spinning. He is performing as part of a collaborative group featuring Lantz Lazwell on guitar\, Brian Swislow on keys with an added special element of Starchild Jr of Parliament Funkadelic fame joining on guitar and vocals. The band of seasoned musicians will celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead and P Funk; the energy will feel more like a groove driven jam band set\, with Logic using the turntables rhythmically as well as texturally. It sits in a pocket that blends funk\, jam\, and improvisational energy. \n \nFEATURING: \nRosewater – Humboldt’s favorite Dead tribute. A sound that doesn’t imitate — it channels. Deep improvisation\, fearless exploration. When Rosewater plays\, the spirit of the Dead is alive. \nFree Limitless Energy – playing Garcia\, Grisman & more — the acoustic\, bluegrass-soaked side of Jerry’s catalog that reminds us where his roots dug deep. \nEVENT SCHEDULE \n7:00 PM – Doors Open \n7:30 PM – Free Limitless Energy \n8:30 PM – DJ Logic & Friends \n10:15 PM – Rosewater \nTimes are approximate and subject to change. \n \nGOOD TO KNOW \n\nALL AGES welcome\nFull bar available\nFree parking on site\nTickets $20 in advance / ($25 at door\, if available)\nThis event takes place during The Days Between (August 1-9) – the nine days when Deadheads around the world come together to celebrate Jerry Garcia’s legacy. 🌹💀\n\n \nARTIST INSTAGRAMS \n@thedjlogic | @starchildjr | @lantzlazwell | @bswizlo | @rosewaterisdead | @freelimitlessenergy \n \nTHANKS TO OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS

SUMMARY:8/5 80s Adventure Series: The Secret of NIMH
DESCRIPTION:Courage. Magic. Pizza. The perfect summer night.\n\n\n🎬🍕 \nJoin us at the Eureka Theater for our 80s Adventure Series! The finale is an animated masterpiece you won’t forget. \n📅 August 5 – The Secret of NIMH \nAbout the movie:\nMrs. Brisby is a timid field mouse. Her son is sick with pneumonia. The farmer’s plow is coming. And her only hope lies in a mysterious group of rats – escaped lab subjects from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) – who possess human-like intelligence\, advanced technology\, and a dark secret. Don Bluth (who left Disney to make this) created something stunning. The animation is rich\, shadowy\, and beautiful. The story is thrilling and surprisingly dark for a kids’ film. The voice cast (including the great John Carradine as Nicodemus) is legendary. This is a film about a mother who will do anything to save her family. It’s brave. It’s sad. It’s breathtaking. On the big screen\, the amulet glowing\, the Great Owl\, the sword fight\, the cinderblock moving – it’s all unforgettable. Stunning then. Stunning now.
